Scavengers, a group exhibition highlighting the resourcefulness of local artists by showcasing artwork created with found objects and unconventional materials, including work that often gets overlooked in sketchbooks where many artists use as a tool for creating ideas and honing inspiration. I had the privilege of participating in this group show by including 2 of my sketchbooks in their Art Library, a hands on interactive element of the exhibit, open to public for patrons to look through. My sketchbooks are such an important part of my creative process. It’s a safe space for me to create, experiment, map ideas, and express myself with no expectation or pressure. Some books are more personal than others, often including poetry or letters of self reflection. I find comfort in my sketchbooks, and am immensely grateful to have the space to share parts of myself with others through this Exhibition.
